I am a Consultant Anaesthetist in the East Midlands. I left the NHS in 2023 but remain in active clinical practice. I was appointed a consultant in 1996 and in total I have 35 years of experience as an anaesthetist. I have held a number of national leadership positions including President of the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland. I have authored national safety and practice guidelines, original articles, books, book chapters, review articles and editorials on a variety of anaesthesia-related topics.
My specialist areas of expertise include neuro and spinal anaesthesia, trauma, orthopaedic, emergency anaesthesia and procedural sedation, and in safety and practice guidelines. I also have significant experience of anaesthesia for general, gynaecological, urological, and ophthalmic surgery. (I do not work in critical care, obstetrics, paediatrics or chronic pain management.)
